Leave Agadir north on the N1, turn off at Aourir (Banana Village) onto the Imouzzer road, then follow the valley for about twenty kilometres of tarmac but narrow mountain road. Allow 1 h 15 from central Agadir, 45 minutes from Taghazout.
On arrival
The car park is by the roadside at Tanaghmelt. From there a twenty-minute walk downhill reaches the first pools; the finest ones are another thirty minutes up the riverbed. Closed shoes are essential, the rocks are slippery.
When to go
The pools are full from February to June, after the winter rains. In August and September the level drops sharply and some run dry. Arrive before 10 a.m.: tour coaches fill the site by mid-morning.

Can you reach Paradise Valley in an ordinary car?
Yes. The road is tarmacked all the way to the Tanaghmelt car park. It is narrow and winding on the final kilometres, but no section needs a 4x4.
How long does it take from Agadir?
About 1 h 15 for 60 km, and 45 minutes from Taghazout. Do the drive in daylight, the mountain road is unlit.
Is there an entrance fee?
The site is free to enter. Only the car park costs a few dirhams, paid to the attendant.
When are the pools full?
February to June, after the rains. By late summer several are dry — check before setting off in August or September.
Do I need a guide?
No, the path from the car park is marked and well used. Local guides offer their services on arrival: it is optional.
Is it cheaper than an organised tour?
